Yosemite Area Online was first launched as ‘Oakhurst Forums’ in 2002 and quickly became the place to go online for local news and information. The site grew to over 10,000 members within just a few years. However, the site was shut down in 2012 after the forum software we were using became outdated and vulnerable to spam.

Three years later, Yosemite Area Online has relaunched with a local blog, forums, groups and other informational pages that can be useful to visitors and residents of Yosemite National Park and the surrounding communities. Feel free to join; it’s free! Once you are a member, you can share photos, news articles, events and anything else that’s related to our area in the center of California.

Since this is a new website, we rely on new members to join and add content that may interest other members here. At the end of each year, awards will be given to the members that add the most valuable content to the site. So, you can be a pioneer of the new website simply by registering and creating a few new topics. The most important thing is that you have fun here. Make sure you tell your neighbors and friends to check out the new YosemiteArea.com
