Oakhurst Library Hosts a Talk on ‘Backyard Wildlife’ with Yosemite Park Ranger

Park Ranger Christine Raines will speak at a workshop scheduled at the Oakhurst Branch Library from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, August 27, 2016.

“Ranger Chris” will bring preserved skins and skulls to share with the audience while telling the stories of each animal’s habitat, adaptations, physiology, and behaviors.

Featured animals are all part of the Yosemite and Sierra Nevada Foothill ecosystem. Some featured animals will be: Bobcats, Mountain Lions, Raccoons, Mule Deer, Red Fox, Coyotes, Gray Squirrels, Peregrine Falcons, Steller’s Jays, Pacific Fishers, Field Mice, Rattlesnakes, and Black Bears.

Additional discussion will include wildlife awareness and safety and differences between Yosemite High Country and Sierra Foothill habitats.
